Sketch challenge

Panda bear and Blossoms

I don't think I've ever entered a "sketch" challenge before...I truly love coming up with my own ideas, but I'd like to learn how to take someone else's vision and make it my own.  So, my personal goal is to find some of these wonderful sketches and re-create them to fit my style.  It's like someone planting the seed and then I come along and tend it as it grows.

So for my "first" sketch challenge, I went looking at some really great blogs and found the sketch I wanted to try.  I found it over at Die Cuttin' Divas and if you're interested in doing a sketch challenge, whether you're new at it, like me or pro...there's still time!  So head on over and have a look.

Now for my card and my take on the sketch.  I hope you like it.

Panda bear and Blossoms

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Pagoda-Panda #2 (pg36), cut at 2 1/4", Kanji "happiness" (pg45), cut at 1 1/2" and flower #2 (pg51), cut at 1 1/4", 2" and 2 1/4".  George and Basic Shapes-circle (pg108), cut at 1/4".

This card is a 5"x7"...the first layer (cream) is cut at 4 3/4"x 6 3/4", the second layer (burgundy) is cut at 4"x 6 9/16"...and the two squares are cut as follows.  The first layer of the square (light burgundy) is cut at 3"x 3" and the second layer (burgundy) is cut at 2 3/4"x 2 3/4".  The four circles are cut at 1/4".

For the little extras...I made the flowers using white card stock and colored them using Copic markers G-85 and R-81...I also used Momento ink Rhubarb for the centers.  I chose to do this since I didn't really have any paper that matched my color choices.  I think I'm pretty happy with the results though.

I also used pop dots on two sets of the flowers to add some depth and dimension.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look.  Kathie

DREAM...

I just love this lady, she seems like she hasn't a care in the world.  I've never used digital stamps before or colored such a large image,  but when I saw Mummu,  I knew I had to give it a try.

I have now found my new addiction...mosdigitalpencil.com, the stamps are so adorable.  I can't believe that I've never even thought of using digital before...I always thought I needed the actual stamp in my hand.  Boy, was I wrong!

I will be entering this card into the Virginia's View challenge over at lilypad.inlinkz.com..  There's still a couple of days left if you'd like to create an entry.

Sweetie pie!

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Pagoda-flower #7 (pg 56), cut at 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch.  I didn't use the base of the flower, simply the top layer.  George and Basic Shapes-oval (pg 114), cut at 2 inches and 2 1/4 inches.

For the cherry blossoms, I used white card stock and colored them with the following Copic markers-R20, R22 and Y32.   Now for Mummu.  I printed the image out at 6 inches in height and used the following Copics to color her with.  Shoes-E53, E55 and E 57...Skirt-B91, B93 and B97...Skin-E000, E00, E01 and R20...Sweater-V91, V93 and V95...Hair-W0 and W3.  Oh, and Y28 for her hair clip.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a look.  Kathie
