WHAT'S OLD-IS NEW!

I JUST RECEIVED THIS CARTRIDGE IN THE MAIL THE OTHER DAY AND JUST KNEW I HAD TO MAKE THE STORE BOX...BUT I WANTED IT TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

So, with that in mind...I decided to take part in the Save the Earth Crawl challenge over at fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com.  For this challenge, you have to use a recycled item in or on your project.

                                                           My dream "craft" cottage!

For this project I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Sweet Tooth Boxes-store (pg 26), cut at 11 inches.  Plantin SchoolBook-flowers (pg 76), cut at 1/2 inch and A Child's Year-font, cut at 1/2 inch.

The recycle items I used are...a KELLOGS FROSTED FLAKES box, for the roof top/shutters and the empty ACETATE SHELL from the new cartridge for the windows.

A little bit of detail on the box...for the box itself, I decided I wanted to give it the look of siding instead of a plain piece of paper, so I cut brown paper into 1/2"x 4" strips and inked them with dark brown for some depth.   I cut the shingles out of the cereal box at 3/4" x 1 1/4 "...and then took four of the shingles and cut them in half,  lenght wise to make the roofing look a little real and offset.  For the shutters...these were also cut from the cereal box and they measure 1/2" x 3".  Both the shingles and the shutters were inked with burnt orange and dark brown.  That leaves the window...pretty easy here...the acetate was simply cut to fit, from the inside of the box.  Phew!

Thanks for looking and I hope this post wasn't too long for you.  Kathie
