PUTTING ON THE RITZ

THE ART DECO CARTRIDGE MAY SEEM SOMEWHAT LIMITED TO SOME, BUT I'VE FOUND QUITE A FEW USES FOR IT IN MY CRAFTING.

I really love the card designs on the Art Deco cartridge...the lines are so clean and true to the style, that I feel you really dont have to add any ink (I cant believe I said that) or embellishments to them.  They stand on their own very well and make beautiful backgrounds for any layout or card.  I also like the fact that this cartridge has a more mature feel.

The card I made will be entered into the Prom-enade challenge over at fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com.  Your project has to have either a tux/dress or prom/dance theme...I really dont have any cartridges with a prom/dance theme, so I went with the tux/dress and made them appear to be dancing.

                                                                   Shall we dance?

For this card I used the Art Deco cartridge and following measurements.  Card #2 (pg 63), cut at 8 inches, Cats Meow (pg 44), cut at 6 inces and Sheik (pg 49), cut at 6 3/4 inches.

This card was really enjoyable to make...like I said earlier, there was really no need for a lot of extras on the card, because I think the style and image speaks for itself.  Although, I did use velvet flock (black) for the gentlemans hair, Glossy Accents for the top hat and shoes (to show off his spats), a crystal for his tie pin and pearls for the ladys neckless and ear ring.  I also used glitter paper for her dress/shoes for a glamorous feel.

I hope you like it...and thank you for taking the time to stop by and have a look.  Kathie

STILL WITH ME...

EVENING THOUGH MY GREAT-GRANDMA IS NO LONGER WITH ME HERE ON EARTH, SHE IS ALWAYS IN MY HEART...AND FOR THIS REASON, I MADE THIS MOTHERS DAY CARD IN HONOR OF HER.  LOVE YOU GRANDMA.

I wanted to enter a couple Mothers Day challenges this week...and I know that the whole idea for making the projects that will be entered, is to eventually give them to someone special.  But, I still wanted to honor my great grandma because she meant so much to me and our entire family.  So, in her memory, I made this recessed window card.

I've entered this card in the Mothers Day challenges over at creativecutterroom.com, exploringcricut.blogspot.com and fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com.

In this photo, my great-grandma is holding my grandmother.

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Flower Shoppe-daisy (pg 18), cut at 2 inches and leaf # 5 (pg 26), cut at 2 inches.  Wild Card-I thought of you/phrase (pg 54), cut at 5 inches.

As always...I just had to use my inks!  I used a goldenrod on the tips of the flower petals and brown on the leaves.  I mounted the photo of my grandmothers with the patterned paper I used on the card and some chocolate brown cardstock.

If you are interested in making this type of card, you can find the instructions for it at splitcoaststampers.com. .  Simply type in recessed window card in the search engine.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a look.  Kathie

YOU'RE SO SWEET!

WHILE LOOKING AROUND ON LINE, I FOUND A NEW BLOG (TO ME) CALLED, BITTENBYTHEBUG2...I SAW THEY WERE HAVING A CHALLENGE...AND WELL, YEAH, I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A GO.

I made this card in colors that I thought would be a little more masculine...and because I tend to be drawn to the more earthy tones myself I thought this would be a good choice.  I also tried to keep in mind, would my husband like to receive this card and would it appeal to men in general.  After a long search through my paper...I came up with this card.I hope you like it.

By the way.  This card is for the Ice Cream Cone challenge over at bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com.  There's still time to join in if you'd like.

Mmmm!

The following cartridge and measurement was used for this card.  Sweet Treats-ice cream #6/shadow (pg35), cut at 6 inches.  That's it!

For this ice cream cone, like in the previous post...I wanted the scoops to have patterned paper to show each flavor as being different.  I inked the edges in brown,  used Glossy Accents on the drip of ice cream falling  and placed pop dots on the lower half of each layer to give it some demension.  For the cone itself, I simply inked the edges with brown and used the Cuttlebug folder "Diamond Plate" to make it look like a real sugar cone.

For the title, I printed out the saying from my computer and cut it to 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" and then mounted it on another piece of card stock 2 1/4" x 2 3/4".

Thanks for looking.  Kathie

THREE SCOOPS PLEASE!

SINCE I COULDN'T GO OUTSIDE AND WORK IN THE FLOWER BED'S OR KOI POND TODAY (JUST TOO WET)...I DECIDED TO PLAY WITH MY CRICUT AND MAKE A CARD.

I didn't have a clue what I was going to do with this card at first (design wise), but after playing around a bit...it suddenly took shape.  I think sometimes it's good to just sit down and make a card for no other reason then just to do it.

Yummy!

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Happily Ever After-Doc (pg61), cut at 5 inches.  Sweet Treats-ice cream #7/shadow (pg36), cut at 4 inches and Wild Card-Bon Appetit (pg 81), cut at 3 1/2 inches.

I'll start with Docs' details first...As you know by now, I'm an inker...and this card is no different from most others that I do, so poor ol' Doc was indeed inked with brown along his clothing, shoes, arms and forhead to make him look a little dirty after a day in the mine.  I also used velvet flock on his hat (brown) and on his snowy white beard (white).  There is also Glossy Accents on his eyes and glasses...and medium pink chalk on his cheeks and nose.

For the ice cream...I used patterned papers for the different flavors of ice cream, Glossy Accents to give the scoops a look of being wet and the Cuttlebug folder "D'vine Swirl for the toppings.  I also inked the edges of the toppings with brown, carnation pink and off white...along with some mini brads to act as sprinkles.

That just leaves the little card above the treat and the dish trim...the card is simply a pink piece of card stock (inked) centered on textured white card stock, plus the phrase and the trim is from a Martha Stewart punch (sorry, cant remember the name)

* I also used pop dots on the upper half of Doc and the title card, plus doubled the pop dots under the entire ice cream so it was standing above the other images.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by...your visits are always welcome and appreciated!  Kathie

WHAT'S OLD-IS NEW!

I JUST RECEIVED THIS CARTRIDGE IN THE MAIL THE OTHER DAY AND JUST KNEW I HAD TO MAKE THE STORE BOX...BUT I WANTED IT TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

So, with that in mind...I decided to take part in the Save the Earth Crawl challenge over at fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com.  For this challenge, you have to use a recycled item in or on your project.

                                                           My dream "craft" cottage!

For this project I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Sweet Tooth Boxes-store (pg 26), cut at 11 inches.  Plantin SchoolBook-flowers (pg 76), cut at 1/2 inch and A Child's Year-font, cut at 1/2 inch.

The recycle items I used are...a KELLOGS FROSTED FLAKES box, for the roof top/shutters and the empty ACETATE SHELL from the new cartridge for the windows.

A little bit of detail on the box...for the box itself, I decided I wanted to give it the look of siding instead of a plain piece of paper, so I cut brown paper into 1/2"x 4" strips and inked them with dark brown for some depth.   I cut the shingles out of the cereal box at 3/4" x 1 1/4 "...and then took four of the shingles and cut them in half,  lenght wise to make the roofing look a little real and offset.  For the shutters...these were also cut from the cereal box and they measure 1/2" x 3".  Both the shingles and the shutters were inked with burnt orange and dark brown.  That leaves the window...pretty easy here...the acetate was simply cut to fit, from the inside of the box.  Phew!

Thanks for looking and I hope this post wasn't too long for you.  Kathie

DREAM...

I just love this lady, she seems like she hasn't a care in the world.  I've never used digital stamps before or colored such a large image,  but when I saw Mummu,  I knew I had to give it a try.

I have now found my new addiction...mosdigitalpencil.com, the stamps are so adorable.  I can't believe that I've never even thought of using digital before...I always thought I needed the actual stamp in my hand.  Boy, was I wrong!

I will be entering this card into the Virginia's View challenge over at lilypad.inlinkz.com..  There's still a couple of days left if you'd like to create an entry.

Sweetie pie!

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Pagoda-flower #7 (pg 56), cut at 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch.  I didn't use the base of the flower, simply the top layer.  George and Basic Shapes-oval (pg 114), cut at 2 inches and 2 1/4 inches.

For the cherry blossoms, I used white card stock and colored them with the following Copic markers-R20, R22 and Y32.   Now for Mummu.  I printed the image out at 6 inches in height and used the following Copics to color her with.  Shoes-E53, E55 and E 57...Skirt-B91, B93 and B97...Skin-E000, E00, E01 and R20...Sweater-V91, V93 and V95...Hair-W0 and W3.  Oh, and Y28 for her hair clip.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a look.  Kathie
